Last week was a bad week. A very bad week. Our friend and neighbor passed away; some moron on the thruway dropped a ton of construction materials in the dark, taking out a couple of cars, ours included, which set us back more than 800 bucks we could ill afford; I accidentally washed Mark’s iPod; the weather was dismal; chronic maladies flared. Woke this morning with a slight headache, wondering what else, life? And it seems life has responded, via Inaluxe. It’s a small independent design studio based in the Grampians, Australia. It’s also Kristina Sostarko and Jason Odd. Color, design, whimsy, a treasure trove of creativity, and a lovely slice of life. Perhaps things are on the upswing.

Inaluxe, by the way, was found via Andrew Kolb. Have you seen his illustration, Button Soup? How smiley-good is that? And currently for sale at Acidfree. (A pox on the fellow who maimed our car, shrinking fundage in the process, dagnabbit.)

Here’s something quite nice - smashing illustration by Nathan Appleyard. Heck, I even like the name Appleyard. With a moniker like that I would live in a more temperate climate, raise chickens, get a basset hound named George, and maybe a couple goats. In fact, I just might, folksy name or no. We’re retiring and planning to move in six years. Okay, yes, i’ll be like a hundred and twenty by then, but maybe still spry enough to chase after chickens without toppling over and breaking a hip.

Something a bit weird and rather wonderful? MorpHex.

Loving the work of Seattle based illustrator and designer Chase Kunz.

Haven’t tried the little indie game Don’t Deux It as yet, but perhaps you’d care to give it a shot.

Was hoping to post more, but the day’s quickly beginning to escape me. Haven’t had breakfast as yet, and seriously need to deal with the junk closet, the contents of which attempted escape last night. Tried to kick it all back in, but a few things kicked back.
