“The ordinary… is the part of our world where beauty is interlaced in each detail… It’s the part of our world that can knock our socks off… but so many of us walk by everyday, never knowing, never caring… But some see…” Seeing (video)

Enjoying the work of illustrator and designer Jo Mansfield. Just wonderful.
“Where the dragon descends into the sea.” Ha Long
Geeky fun: Real Shadow, a jQuery Plugin that casts photorealistic shadows.
Recently began following the talented and not-wrapped-real-tight writerly folks behind Behind Bob’s Burgers as well as Jammu, where you’ll find some very nice images/posts.
Tiny Little Movie Review: Dark Shadows. Except is sorta isn’t even though it is. Sad to hear AC was merely “fine.” Been a while, so maybe i’ll watch Prince of Darkness during lunch, where AC equals Street Schizo. “I’ve got a message for you… and you’re not going to like it.”p.s.—shoebox also has another amusing newsdropping and a burble, if you’re into things like smiling or stray fingers. Which we totally are, right?
Man, do I wish I was there. Mad for San Francisco. (Also of SF interest: The Bold Italic and St. Frankenstein)
Revisits: Carl Kleiner Diary. The Visual Telling of Stories. Stuart Matthews.
“I never realized how much the Royal Caribbean logo looks like the Decepticon Insignia.” Jared Chapman
It must be seagull week. The other day, I watched one make a three-point landing out back - too much speed probably. Or a poor judge of distance. This morning, there was a one leggedy seagull in the yard. Little known fact: I was once adopted by a seagull I named Chester. I was helping a friend with his business, and Chester would come to the tiny shop each morning around 9 o’clock and stay until 3pm. If I propped the door open, he’d come inside and hang out. Customers adored him. He’s one of the small things I missed after moving to New York. I like to believe Chester’s still wandering around down in Virginia Beach, all fat and happy.
Your life is an open book. So what’s the title of the current chapter?
